Typically, the substation is structured into three distinct compartments: the High Voltage Compartment, which houses high/medium voltage switchgear like ring main units and gas-insulated switchgear capable of reaching a rated voltage of up to 40.5kV maximum, the Low Voltage Compartment, and the Transformer Compartment, which includes either a three-phase oil-immersed transformer or a cast resin dry type transformer.
